So the finale two episodes, "The Furies" and "Been There, Done that" became the opener and 2nd episode respectively in season 3. Sac 1 and Sac 2 are labled episodes 19 and 20, but in actuality (Is that word?) they are episodes 21 and 22. Make sense? I hope it does, because it doesn't make much sense to me at all. Okay, they're in the temple, Xena and Gab have taken care of the baddies. Xena has the hinds blood and is going after Hope. Ares tells Gab Xena's life is in her hands... *Quote:* THE FATES'S SCISSORS. Inching closer to Xena's lifeline... GABRIELLE hesitates. Then using her staff, she VAULTS onto the altar. For a moment it looks like she's out to stop Xena, like before... Instead she lands past Xena, and GRABS Hope. As this is happening, we go into.. SLO-MO ...Gabrielle and Hope teeter at the edge of the abyss. Hope clings to Gabrielle for dear life. Xena sees what Gabrielle is doing; too late to stop her... XENA (slo-mo scream) Noooooo... ...Too late, as Gabrielle locks Hope in an embrace, and deliberately launches herself and Hope over the edge.. RESUME NORMAL SPEED ...Gabrielle's face is last thing Xena sees. ....And they're gone. A hair's-length late, Xena lands at the edge and grabs -- getting only thin air. XENA'S POV - INTO THE ABYSS Nothing but blackness. SERIES OF CUTS Joxer moves to the edege and beings to SOB as he stares down in shock... ARES moans in frustration and defeat...SERAPHIN and the Disciples shake free of their mental enslavement... The Dahak Flame clickers, and dies... INTERCUT: THE FATES SCISSORS. They move away from Xena's lifeline. Okay, I bet your asking yourself, why did you just post what REALLY happened. Well, the script has it, and it is pretty much like what happened in the episode... but read on my brothers and sisters... RESUME SCENE XENA is devastated. There is TOTAL SILENCE. Until CALLISTO LAUGHS. A hearty, cruel laugh finally reminiscent of the old Callisto, before she "lost her way." CALLISTO Oh, I never thought I'd feel so good again. Seeing poor dear Gabrielle sacrifice herself... for YOU... makes it all worthwhile. Yes, it finally makes life worth living again! And I have YOU TO THANK, XENA! Xena slowly turns, cold fire in her eyes. XENA No, no, no... ...is all she says as she cuts Callisto's joy off, plunging the dagger into her heart. XENA ...No more living for you. Callisto's eyes widen in the shock of pain... and death. She falls at Xena's feet. Xena walks back to the edge. She kneels down and stares dumbfounded into the abyss... We play her devestation for a moment and then... Yes, I'm deliberatly interrupting... builds the suspense up, doesn't it? I have a feeling as to why it played out this way, more on that when I finish... A NOISE... from the blackness of the abyss. A HAND reaches up... Xena grabs it, and hauls Gabrielle up. She's been clinging to a vine, just out of sight. Relief floods Xena's face, and they embrace. ARES How I hate happy endings. Off the moment, we: FADE OUT. THE END They probably altered the ending just in case it got out. I think they planned on killing Gab along so they could mess with her "way" in season 4. I liked the episode better. When I got home from work, I'll try to remember to post more. I like the original ending we got. That shocking climax with Gabrielle and Hope both going into the pit and then ending with not knowing if she died or lived was a great way to end a season.
