In our effort to revive the shipper forum, Melskim and I, have decided to begin a series of polls connected to our beloved couple, Ares and Xena. This week's poll is dedicated to Ares' best shipper lines and here's a poll that includes the options we've collected :

How do you interpret Xena and Gabrielle?

Continuing my curiosity about what you all shippers think (me being a hardcore X/G subber), how do you interpret the relationship of Xena and Gabrielle? Obviously, no matter which side of the fence you're on, you're gonna have to explain stuff away to justify your favorite pairing, I do it too.

So how do you all see the relationship between Xena and Gabrielle? Why do you think they're NOT lovers? How do you explain away subtext, or make it fit into your own view of the...

Did you all see what was there or did you see the potential?

Personally, I'm not a shipper, I'm a X/G subber, so I think there will never a romantic relationship going on between Ares and Xena. Mostly because I see it as a very one sided thing, he's madly in love/lust with her and she may be attracted to him at times, but it's not enough to call it love.

That's just me, and whatever you believe all the power to ya.

I am curious about something, though. Do you, as shippers, think there was something romantic...

I finished reading Divided we Stand part 1 and 2, and at the end I was really sad that Xena and Gabrielle left each other(Xena went to rebuild Corinth and Gabrielle stayed with the amazons).
I understand the shipper season is seen by a Shipper viewpoint but I am a bit disappointed to see this rift between them again.
So I hope that they come back together at least as friends. Are they?

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, sorry if it has! Do you think that Xena and Ares could have gotten together and created a long-lasting relationship when Ares was a god? There are no shippers that wouldn't love to see these two together in a relationship, but would it have worked out if Ares couldn't grow up together with Xena? Don't kick me out of the shippish forum for saying that but don't you...

I know some people may see this as an 'inconsistency' because of The Reckoning, but if you think about it, we can make sense of it. Perhaps Ares wanted to 'test' Xena, to see if she was truly worthy of being the #1 warrior he sought after. Its an awfully good plan, as he was killing two birds with one stone; confirming whether or not Xena was 'the one', and having Darfus kill the half brother he's always hated, Hercules.

Now you can argue that Ares stole...
